  • Creator of Robotics and Autonomous Systems Talks (RASTalks), a series of seminars that provide a communication point for people interested in robotics and automation to share and learn about others research ideas in an informal manner, 2011-2017.
  • Juror in the African Robotics Network (AFRON) "$10 Robot" Design Challenge, 2012.
  • Writer in the biggest technical magazine in Egypt (Arab Electricity), which focuses on electrical engineering topics. I have written a series of articles on how to build a real robot to introduce robotics to layman engineers, 1998-2009.

University Services
  • Participated actively in preparing the necessary documents to get ACQUIN Accreditation for Mechatronics Engineering program at German University in Cairo.
  • Participated in the development of National Academic Reference Standards (NARS) for Mechatronics Engineering while I was working as a consultant for National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation for Education (NAQAAE).
  • Supervised 9 ZC students toward participation in SpacX Hperloop Pod Design Competition, 2016-2017.
  • Wrote a proposal for 9 laboratories for Space and Communication Program at ZC that support both undergraduate teaching and postgraduate research and stimulate the curiosity of both students and researchers, 2016-2017.
  • Reviewed and refined the Space and Communication Program curriculum, 2016-2017.
  • Founder of GUC Robotics and Autonomous Systems Laboratory that supports different undergraduate and postgraduate courses and allows conducting research in the areas of computational intelligence, algorithmic robotics, cooperative multi-robot systems, multi-sensor data fusion and autonomous systems.
  • Co-founder of Suez University Centre of Excellence for Energy and Water, 2013.
  • Founder and coordinator of Control Technology Unit (CTU) funded by Siemens at Suez University, 2012-2013.
  • Wrote a proposal for the establishment of University of Waterloo Center of Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (CPAMI). CPAMI started officially in March 1, 2011 and I currently serve as an affiliated member of this center.
